Title: t bar, clamps, shock mounts
Post by: bagtagsell on November 17, 2003, 10:05:52 AM
Thanks for all the help thus far.  Does anyone recommend any t bars, or where to get them?
Also are mic clamps only for balcony situations or do they have other applications?
Finally, Recommends for Akg 391 shockmounts?
Thanks again

Ahem.  :P  Check the Archival Info forum for some popular options:  t-bars (http://www.taperssection.com/yabbse/index.php?board=14;action=display;threadid=2458), shockmounts (http://www.taperssection.com/yabbse/index.php?board=14;action=display;threadid=2457), clamps (http://www.taperssection.com/yabbse/index.php?board=14;action=display;threadid=2456).

Some of the common taper online retailers:  Masterpiece AV, Sonic Sense, Oade Bros, Cascade Media.  Or check your local music equipment supply store.

Clamps are useful in all sorts of situations - balconies, other tapers' stands, tables, stage lips, chairs, etc.  IMO, all tapers should have at least 1 clamp.

Yeah, those bars are nice - 1.25 meters wide??? but damn check out those prices!!!  The 17 inch bar was $245...

I found a normal wide bar with 4 screwies for mics on EBAY and here (they are the same thing):

I got one of those Sonci Sense AKG guys, but I'm not a fan of the swing-arms held by nuts only...  If I do anything vert, the arms swing down due to gravity...

I've even thought of getting some local metalworker to make some for me...

www.micworks.com
This is my local pro shop that is about 10 minoutes from home.
They are certainly more expensive, but totally convenient to me. (still only $17.50ish) This is a totally cheap stamped metal bar, that is even slightly bowed from being stamped out! cheap stuff, but it works!

One of those AEA bars would be soooooo sweet though. :happylove:
Decca Tree bars also!! (dreaming for now.....)

I have one of the AEA stands... that thing's a f*ckin' tank!

A grand for one of these????  I wouldn't pay that much for one of those even if i won the lottery! Why do these things cost so much? Are they made out of platinum or something?
