with the ecm mics you just stick a AA battery in it and plug it into the "mic-in" of your md (at least thats the way i think it worked - its been so long).  put another AA in your md, and hit record....you're now a taper.  my first mic was an ecm-907.  i'd offer to sell you it, but schwills already hit you up with an offer and i don't want to be a bastard.
