Well on one of my JB3's(I have 2 luckily) I think the input jack on it is broken or out of place somehow. To get it to see the optical signal you have to move around the cord to a certain position and carefully leave it. And also for analog input the left channel isn't really working at all...only getting a right channel. Wondering if there is any way at all this can be fixed?

Sounds like you might have to get at the motherboard and look for a broken solder joint. You would hope that the jack has just pulled away from the board. If so you can probably solder it back...
Just a guess - haven't had to take mine apart yet...

Yeah, I may give a go at trying to open the thing up and taking a closer look.

my buddies did that, dont use superglue :P
seriously tho, dont use glue, id rather put some duct tape or something on it, and if my memory is correct, you casnt just resolder it to the motherboard again, its a plastic piece

I broke my input a few weeks ago so I opened it up and re-soldered it back together and it works just fine.
Just be sure to test it a few times before you put it back together because the first 2-3 times I was missing 1 connection so it wasn't quite right but I got it after taping then listening.

Ok, well after a few dropouts yesterday due to the optical jack not being seated securly I decided it is time to open the sucker up and try to fix it.
Yep, the white plastic piece is extremely loose and moves all around the place. There are actually like 3 solder points that are not connected. I *think* if I resolder them back it should fix the problem. Although it'd be nice if there was a way to have the plastic piece "stick" to the circuit board so it is more secure and won't happen ever again. I think I am gonna get some sleep and work on it later today hopefully in time for another show ;)

Yeah - but - just be satisfied with the bond the solder will provide(which should be plenty)...resist using crazy glue...it has a way of "wicking" into places that you did not intend...

after you resolder it, use some all purpose hot melt glue. sticks descent and can be removed easily.

Not sure how all this works, but what's to stop one from soldering a RCA to the same spots and adding a Coax input??? Remove the 1/8 input, run a wire out the hole with the RCA on the end and solder the other ends of the wires to the same spots???
