There was a lot of banter months ago on the iRiver web forum about the sample drops.  Someone emailed iRiver and was told they were working on the problem.  No word since.

It might take awhile, but eventually there will be firmware to fix the glitch.

I have been emailing iriver for almost a year with no response about the recording issues.. they write back about there being no shuffle at 1st.
they turned off their USA phone help line and my emails never get a response............

LOVE it for a music holder, use it all day every day...........
and nobody wants it to be bit perfect more then me, just see them come out with new units and they concentrate on firmware for those, not last years model

I'm pretty much finished with the Neuros.  The battery life for recording is rediculous and it leaves minidisc-like artifacts in the recordings.

On the other hand, the playback battery time is decent, it's upgradable with respect to the hardware and firmware, cheap, and has an FM radio and transmitter.  So I'll probably keep it as a playback device but I desperately want my M1 back.

Well, a very kind soul has offered to let me borrow and possibly buy an M1 for the time being.

Been using my Gmini 120 for a few months... both for stealthing shows and as a portable hard disk.  So far it hasn't let me down.  I record direct to .WAV via the analog line in.  I use SP-CMS-2 mics and a SP battery box.  It's nice and small so great for 'stealthing' shows.  It's easy to set initial levels and start a recording... however once it's running the backlight stays off... so it can be a little hard to see if you need to make adjustments on the fly. I suggest a tiny flashlight! :-)  I've run for 3.75 to 4 hours straight without running out of battery and without having to split a recording.  I've heard that if the unit runs out of juice while recording you WILL lose the entire recording... so that could be an issue.  So far I'm very happy with this unit.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

My JB3 should be here very soon. Plan to tape Matt Nathanson when he comes to campus in October.

I am eager to use this unit, and have all my recordings become "digital."

Sorry, I must clarify.

Analog transfers (I don't have a MD Deck). So I have been doing Analog transfers.

Thus with the Jb3, I will be able to have "digital," transfers.
