JB3 jog wheel cleaning
« on: March 17, 2005, 07:15:07 PM »
Yes, I've read the FAQ, many times  :)

But can you use that keyboard cleaning stuff that is in the compressed can for cleaning the wheel.

Also, is this a very common problem among JB3 owners?

Mine's due for a cleaning, it's skipping/jumping a bit - I suspect it's pretty common.  Haven't tried compressed air on mine, but maybe I'll try that before I take it apart.  Curious to hear what others say...

Compressed air didn't do a thing for me.  Once I took it apart and basically doused the wheel in contact cleaner it started working like a brand new unit again! ;)

I was stupid enough to bring my lunch in the same bag as my Jb3 to work one day (authentic homemade chinese[real stinky]) the tupperware leaked alll over the jb3. I didnt know at all what happened untill 2 days later (WTF IS THAT SMELL!!!!!).  I almost cried when I pulled it out, it was dripping, everything inside was coated in soy/ginger/garlic who knows what sauce.

CONTACT CLEANER TO THE RESCUE!!!!!

it still has a bit of an old food smell but it works like a charm.
the show is over go home please.

so i decided to take mine apart and clean the scroll wheel today... while dissassembling it i touched the corner of the screen somehow and broke off a little chip

now there is a line thru the middle of the display about 4 pixels high that is blank :(

yep, grider popped in and asked me why i was spending all that cash when i could get a 722, and it clicked in my head

i had talked myself out of a 722 about 2 weeks ago, so much for that i put a deposit down on a 722 2 days ago 8)

well, if youre happy w/ your pre/ad, its silly IMO to buy it JUST for a 24-bit recorder :P

the marantz can easily get me most local shows, and for festies, i will roll w/ 16-bit outta the jb3 :)
