Re-installing an Audiophile 24/96 on Windows XP (SP2)
« on: March 23, 2005, 12:56:34 PM »
I've run my M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 card on Windows ME for the past 3 years. With a recent HD crash, I was forced to upgrade OS to Windows XP (Home ed. w/ SP2). Last night I re-installed the drivers of the Audiophile card, and additionally installed the updated drivers for XP from M-Audio's site.

I don't seem to have the Audiophile Control Center like I used to - where you can set the sample rate of the card. Is this normal? Does the updated driver version automatically recognize the incoming sample rate and adjust the card accordingly?

I will try recording tonight (DAT > coax > Audiiophile > Wavelab), but was curious why I didn't have the Control Panel for the card anymore.

Where is it then? When I go to Start > Programs > M-Audio Audiophile2496 its not there. The way my desktop was set up, I had a shortcut to the control panel set up, but its been so long since I've installed it. Did you install from the included driver disc, or from the website ? or both?

When I installed the drivers, it placed the M-Audio control icon in the system tray on the bottom right...

Did you install the drivers from the disc? or only from the website? Should it matter?

I installed from disc, and then updated from the website.

I installed from disc, and then updated from the website.

I installed from the disc...and did not update as the driver on the disc was working...

the m-audio products should have an entry in the control panel.  i have both the dio2496 and the revolution m-audio cards and each of them has an entry in the control panel.  if you want an icon on your desktop, goto start > control panel, you may have to switch to "classic view" (click text on upper left of window to do this).  now you should see an icon for your audiophile card.  you can right click the icon and create a shortcut, then drag it to the desktop.

as far as having the control center run in the system tray, there might be an option in the control center to have it do this.  i thought, by default that all of the m-audio products add themselves to startup in msconfig but this may not be the case.  at the very least you will have an icon to access the control panel, as far as having it auto run on startup in the system tray i don't have any ideas at this point.

I just installed XP this weekend too (was at Win98 lol). The driver disc took care of everything. Perhaps you should remove the hardware and reinstall.

UPDATE - all is well. Just re-installed the driver disc, and the control panel showed up. Thanks for the tips.
