Title: Anyone using dual layer DVD for archive yet?
Post by: gewwang on July 30, 2004, 12:30:12 AM
I just picked up a Sony DRU-700A dual layer DVD writer at Best Buy. Open box + $30 rebate ended up being $131 plus tax.

So anyone else using this? Where's the best place to get the DL DVDs? Which brands are reliable or crap?

Damn, $10 is an expensive coaster. I will definitely stick with the 4.7 GB's until those come down in price.

Good to hear the your Sony's working well with TDK's though since I just got a 25 pack of them last week for $20. I've also got some Imation and Verbatim to test out on it as well.

I've already seen some non name brand DL dvd burner's for around $75-80.  Now if only some companies other than Verbatim will start churning out the discs to bring down the cost we'd be in business.  Verbatim is seriously milking it too.  Right now the only thing they are selling are the 10 packs with 1 X DVD+R DL, 8 X DVD+R, & 1 X DVD+RW for $22 & singles or 5 packs of DL's for $10-15 a piece.
