I have one of these with the built in "4.7k" mod which I run into a church ugly battery box, which is powered by a 9 volt battery. The output is too hot for the mic in on my M10, so I go line in and pretty much have to crank the gain wide open unless it's an extremely loud show. May be different on a different recorder with less sensitive preamps.  Those are mini-xlr connectors.

You can't get much smaller than that.

This is my exact setup, and I would highly recommend it for low profile. However, my experience with CA-14s > UBB or AT-853s > UBB > DR-2D is that even the mic input at 100 still has levels a little lower than I would like. I'm curious what mics you are using, must be something with higher sensitivity than my mics. I guess I didn't realize the M10 had such a high sensitivity as well.

It has to be the M10. Even with the mic sensitivity switch set to low, anything powerd with a 9v overloads the mic input. Power modules>mic input= :headphones:

Even mics with the 4.7k mod? I have run both CA-14 cards and AT-853s, each with the mod, into an M10 mic-in with a battery box, and only at the loudest shows have they overloaded.

Maybe I need to try again. That cable I have that goes from 2X mini xlr>1/8" does have the 4.7 mod. I swear I think it still overloads

On a related note (and I hope I am not highjacking this topic to too great a degree) but has anybody noted whether 4.7 modded AT853(u) cards are much more sensitive than 4.7 modded CA-14 cards?  I have sets of each and the CA-14s seem far less sensitive than the AT853s (to the tune of 15 dbs) when both are used with Church 9200 pres and M-10s (line in).  Sorry again for the stray thought.

Thanks! I posted first on the one thread and then decided to delete it there and post it to a more appropriate thread.  You were too fast for me -- thanks for the answer!
