Topic: HELP! Hardware issue (burner content)

Just a heads up if you are running XP. Sometimes if it detects too many errors the XP will revert back to PIO mode. I had this happen so many times with my old Plextor CDR/W.

Uninstalled & re-installed drive & IDE, worked fine for a coupla DVDs & then reverted back to PIO.  I checke d& it's set for "DMA if available" (other option is "PIO only") but it's running in PIO.

Any idea how to fix this without having to repeatedly un- & re- install?

This is bugging me,  I don't wanna replace the drive if nothing's wrong with it.

This is a wild hair-brained guess but try force updating your ASPI layer.

How would I go about that?
