Topic: Question about new caps

Hey!  I just got some Christmas money early and was thinking about getting new caps for the AKG 390 bodies.  I was wondering which would be better for taping in small/medium sized club venues, the CK 92 Omnis or the CK 93 Hypers.  Tell me what you think.

I agree, the ck93 caps are the ones to get. First of all hypers are very useful for reducing the sound of the room or the crowd.

I also happen to believe that the rear lobe of the hypers can produce a quasi blumlian effect when run xy.

Buy them now, and in the summer when outdoor gigs are more common go for the 92s.

small/medium sized club venues

depends what kind of music and where you are recording from.  if you do a good amount of instrumental bands and can record on-stage, definitely get the omnis.  otherwise, as others have suggested, you'd probably use the hypers more than the omnis.
