Pc Speaker Recomendations?

<< < (2/3) > >>

Fatah Ruark (aka MIKE B):
I have a pair of these (JBL 306P MK II) and have been generally happy with them. Unsure of accuracy and such (they have good reviews on B+H). I just wanted a set of semi-loud pretty good sounding desktop speakers for my computer, and they are that.

They also make an 8" version (JBL 308P MK II) in your budget.

I think the powered monitors recommendation is the way to go, coupled with an external USB DAC. There's a lot out there to look into, not the least of which is the size of the speakers, so take your time. One combo that comes to mind within your $400 is the JBL 305P MkII, which is the 5" woofer veriosn of the the JBL mentioned above @ $270.00

Along with a Schitt Audio Modi 3E USB DAC @ $129.00

The only issue with the JBL's is they have balanced inputs (XLR & TRS), so connecting to a DAC like the Modi that has RCA (unbalanced) output, is that you'll need adapter cables.

Thanks Everyone for your recommendations , Ill see if any B&M  stores carry some of these for a in person trial  but otherwise internet + the recs & reviews will be my guide.

I'll post back with what I get.
Cheers

Audioengine A2+ or Vanatoo Transparent Zero. Either will get the job done really well.

If you have an extra $10,000 burning a hole in your pocket, you may want to check out the desktop speakers by Wilson Audio, the WATT Mini. I’m sure they sound fine.

Get a Focusrite D>A Box and connected Active Speakers to it.  Volume control in on the Focusrite as well as a headphone gain control.  JBL, Klipsch, Fostex are all good brands.
