T-bar riser options

(1/2) > >>

Brian Skalinder:
Having trouble running your mics XY on a t-bar because they run into each other?  Run one mic facing up, one mic hanging down.  Don't want to do that?  There are several options for raising one mic above the other on your t-bar to make mic configs easier to set up:

Atlas LO2-B, available at local musician's stores and http://www.bhphotovideo.com

5/8"> 3/8" adapter and a 3/8" > 5/8" (part numbers forthcoming)

Rapido quick release, available at http://www.olsenaudio.com and http://www.sonicsense.com

David Sanders' homemade riser:  http://www.scitaper.com/tbar.jpg

From nmclubreth:  I modded my akg bar by using a small pvc coupling, a 2 inch screw w/ nut and two nylon washers.  It cost me about a dollar and works just fine.

Used the rapido quick release adapters last night.  Not using them as the "quick release" as sold, but primarily as spacers, and 2 of them got my 391's and DPA UA0896 windscreens, in AT 8410 shocks and the AKG standard t bar, and the risers gave me just enough room to get one mic above the other...to run XY on that bar.  Definitely a cheap way to get the functionality of the Shure A27M bar, in the AKG bar.

I was informed that the Rapido quick release is out of production. Does anyone know of a substitute product ?

This is what I use... it's a threaded spacer bar that rises the mic on the left above the other mic.
This particuliar one came w/ a gooseneck table-top stand from rat shack, but there are other similar stands with the same spacer.

I have another spacer, I think I bought it seperatly from the gooseneck stand either at rat shack or a local music shop.
