What's a good mic mounting bar that allows all the various configurations, and where can I get it?
I'm using a very light Manafrotto (or whatever it is) stand, so I probably can't use anything as heavy as the cool vertical Shure bar.
I'm just moving up from a stereo mic to a pair. First time out, I picked up a flat bar at Guitar Center for $10, but it doesn't allow any adjustments. It took me an hour to figure out a way to do XY with both mics horizontal (see jpg below). But I can't figure out how to do other positions.
Suggestions appreciated.

try the akg bar

What's the model and/or where can I find it? Haven't been able to find it at the AKG site, 8th Street, or Zzounds.

the akg bar is about 3/4 down, it's a very solid bar and is pretty cheap ($20). i also owned a sambrasom bar and it was pretty poorly constructed so i'd stay away from it.

You shouldn't have a problem running the Shure bar. Its not too heavy if you are running it on the stud at the end. If you're clamping, just duct tape the feet down and you should be fine!

Yeah, I have a Bogen 17' and run the Shure vert bar. The only time I get worried is when I'm all the way up at 17' and the stand starts to bend. ;) But I hardly ever have to run that high anyway...

Thanks for the suggestions. I just ordered a AKG bar from Sonic Sense, with a quick-release mount. Guess that should fix me up.
