Realistic Mic
« on: April 09, 2005, 05:06:40 PM »
Please ignore my ignorance...I am very new to all this.  I am getting ready to tape a few shows coming up in May.  Sarah McLachlan to be exact.

Anyway I have this realistic mic model #33-1063.  It's a mono mic I think....er, I am not sure if this would be good to use for a bootleg or not.  I have heard some of their other models make good bootlegs recordings, most of which they no longer make.  I am low on funds so trying to make do with what I have.

From what I could find on google, it is an omni electret and unless you have two, you would be making a mono recording. I have never heard a recording made with this microphone, but I'd wager that it isn't going to sound fantastic. Of course I could be wrong and if you are low on funds and trying to make due, then I guess it wil have to work. By the way, the term bootleg isn't very popular around here - that term is usually used to describe illegal recordings for sale. I'm hoping you aren't trying to sell your recordings. +T

Thanks for all the input.

We like:
taper or recordist, not pirate or bootlegger and
recording or tape or pull, not bootleg

+T and thanks for asking
