Title: Gear Bags
Post by: Chimney Top on March 25, 2011, 02:04:41 PM
I just purchased a new bag today by Lowepro.  I think it is a new model so I will share it here.

Lowepro Stealth line.  6 different sizes of the same bag.

I got the D200 model.  It has plenty of room for cables, shockmounts and accessories but still fairly compact.  it comes with a little pouch with a clear plastic cover.  a rain jacket for the entire bag, a wallet to store SD cards, extra pockets, luggage strap, removable interior, padded velcro dividers, and you can access the main compartment via zipper on top of the bag.  $89 avg price

Post some photos with your gear in it when you get a chance.

^
I don't run all of that gear listed above in that bag at the same time - It is usually:   mics>portico>mytek>sd722

The D650 AW has the height & width to support the above gear with ease.  Great bag and highly recommended!!

One of the few bags I could find that was tall enough.

Thanks.  I was gonna build one, but bought this one assembled with a custom pc board and op amp socket (if replacement is desired).
Nice clean build.
That design has been around for some time.  I even run it off rechargeable 9v's.
It barely has enough power to make the E4's very loud, but they isolate very well so I've not had much of an issue.  Many times don't even use the hp amp.

I have seen this as well.  but it looks like it is foam lined.  Not sure if its removable without destroying the inside of the bag.  if it is removalble it looks like a good alternative to a sonicase.

So I was working the web for the Gator bag, and I found this:

http://www.amazon.com/Gator-Cases-Recorder-Utility-600-Denier/dp/B0008M82ZU/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&m=A14W995FAMURHE&s=generic&qid=1301413161&sr=1-14 (http://www.amazon.com/Gator-Cases-Recorder-Utility-600-Denier/dp/B0008M82ZU/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&m=A14W995FAMURHE&s=generic&qid=1301413161&sr=1-14)

Under 22 bucks delivered, so I ordered one.  Figure the price is probably a mistake, but I'll see if the seller will honor the price.  Amazon is pretty hard core about their sellers.  I'll let you know how it turns out.

You must've bought the last one or scared the seller, notlance.  Clicked on your link and it's listed as out of stock with that vendor.

It seems like that sort of thing happens often with Amazon. I wouldn't be surprised if they cancel the order. I'm hopin' for you though! ;D

Yep, y'all were right, the bag was vaporgear.  I got an email from Amazon saying the item was not in stock, my card was not charged, sorry for the inconvenience, etc.  It was worth the try.  At least Amazon closed the listing so cheapskates like me won't get our hopes up.

After reading this Gear Bag thread it made me remember an old Targus camera bag that I used to have.  After searching the garage for a bit I found where I had stored it and it seems to fit my needs perfectly.  After building a small stilt for my preamp, everything for two complete rigs fits nicely into it.  It certainly will be nice to run my preamp upright.  A lot easier to reach the knobs and switches!

I've been using this bag for a bit with my R-44 and 2 Sound Devices MixPre supplies with batteries.  The clear door is really nice for potential spillage, etc.  I had to modify the foam liners inside...will try to snap some photos soon.

My question regarding the gator bag pertains to the foam inside, is it glued in or is it removable? I would like to see pictures of those who have modified the interior of their gator bags..
