Looking for a low profile dedicated simple ui recorder for m2d2.

Mixpre no go, no digital ins.
Spdr resamples

Possible: galaxy tab a9/7. Need to confirm powered usb hub

Yerp that's under consideration too as is a 5 or 6" android.
There are a lot of strange dead ends, ie usb audio recorder pro for android
only works in landscape.

I dont like apples but in this case an iPhone might be best choice.

And I'm trying to think through the whole workflow re usb pen drive or sd card
for easily moving files to laptop.

Lenovo yt700 legion, iphone 7-12, galaxy s something phone... top 3

Anker 555 hub en route to test always on phone.

Lenovo has 2 usb's so it can always charge without hub.

I ran the M2D2 out of USB-C into an iPhone 15 running apogee meta recorder. This is now my go-to 2 channel rig, super convenient and lightweight plus it sounds stellar.

Has anyone 3d printed a case from the files that Sonosax provides? I'd like to get a shell to protect it, the pre overheated in my gear bag and I think the large shell would help with air circulation to cool the unit.

While mine hasn't overheated, I have encountered the flashing "TEMP" (temperature charge error, according to the manual p.14) within the battery level box on the screen while running with an external Talentcell battery. Removing the connection immediately resolves the issue and the level indicator returns to normal.

Reviewing the manual, it states these Operating Conditions:

Charging Li-ion battery 0 to +45°C (113F)
Operating temperature -20 to +70°C (158F)

It appears that while charging the threshold for overheating is lowered, which makes sense. My experiences with the TEMP error were during the summer, although outside ambient temperatures didn't really exceed ~80-90F, but it seems possible that even a well-ventilated rig bag could easily exceed 113F.  That said, I'm not a big fan of the required 18650 battery. Having to step away for an entire set or show while leaving an external battery connected might run the risk of overheating if you aren't able to catch the TEMP error in time. I haven't ran enough tests to figure out the best solution.

Are people comfortably running for an entire show on a single 18650?

interesting experiences by folks. I guess ill have to keep a better eye on it. only time i ran in to an issue was my iphone getting super hot on a blazing day last summer. but ive had that happen in non taping situations as well. not sure id run the phone all day at a fest without some cooling opting for my old hdp2 if i had the need i guess.

I always run mine plugged in to the talentcell. i run both the phone and m2d2 off the talent cell and have never noticed heat at all. my V3 used to get HOT i wouldnt even close the bag

Talentcell output is unregulated, at least the 9V and 12V outputs, not sure about the 5V USB port.  In my primary use powering Zoom F8 the voltage on the 12V output port drops from 12V down to 9-10V as the battery discharges.  Speculation, but the sagging output voltage might cause a higher current draw as compensation, potentially generating additional heat.
