Recording longer shows w/Sound Forge?
« on: November 02, 2004, 11:12:16 PM »
Hi everyone,

Perhaps I'm an idiot, but I, for one, cannot get Sound Forge 6 to record for more than 2 hours in a single file.  I have no problems battery-wise (since my stock Toshiba battery will get me about 4.5 hours on a full charge right now), but SF limits the file to exactly two hours.

Is there some way around this?  Or would a different program be more appropriate?

I'll be taping a show, and have the option of a SBD feed, so I figure we can take both and try and put them together later.  It may not line up, but it's worth a shot.  I'll seed the best of the three in the end.

you can use wavelab and use the auto split feature or in sound forge you can save the file as a .w64 file and go back and split it later to get around the 2gb file limit

are you trying to tell it only to record for a certain amount of time?

make sure the "mode dialog" in the record properties is set to "automatic retake". SF will record for days or unless you run out of hd space first...
