just want to point out that I had nothing to do with this shameless fight-picking thread. as my new "scihooper" moniker would suggest, I am trying for a kinder, gentler, compassionate republican type persona. except without the republican.  ;D

Personally, I think you would be much happier soundwise (ignoring all stealth factors) with the minime...I know someone who does a lot of FOB, but have heard his section as well as fob tapes.  He ised to for a decent while run ccm4s->Aerco, but has since changed to ccms4->V3, and for a few shows he ran my minime as well.  Not a perfect comparison by any means (same band, different, but similar venues), but liked the *presence* of the mini over the aerco from the section.  I also like his V3 tapes generally over his aerco efforts.  But stealthing is altogether different.  So, it depends what you're overall use will be, but in side-by-side, whether up front or in the back, the mini will generate punchier, more present and really clearer tapes (don't know how much the mini's adc contributes to the last factor, though, but still a consideration because the mini does have the premier adc in the field  ;D).

how much do you want to spend?

v2->minime is a very nice combo

Has anyone compared the minime A/D with the mod-SBM1 A/D into 16bit tape?

If he already has the aerco, the SBM would be smaller, cheaper and everything internally powered for fob stealth work.  The MM and V3 are a bit bigger and you need to carry lead.

Could someone post a picture of aerco preamp.  I've never actually seen one, and I have curious to see what one is like.

Also, how much do they go for used?

You can use lot's of other battery packs to power these toys... Lead is not the only option.
