Props for Sound Devices
« on: November 21, 2004, 06:23:38 PM »
I sent an MP-2 to Sound Devices to fix a couple of things that needed fixin on it.  I told them that I picked it up used and it wasn't in really great shape.  The tape-out didn't work (no signal coming out), the external power jack wasn't working, and I wanted the mod for NiMH rechargables.  The knob for the headphones was also noisy but I didn't want to spend a bunch of $$ on this repair so I didn't even mention it.

The give me a call w/ an estimate on the price & I OK the repairs.  Two days later they call again to say it's fixed an on its way back to me.  I open the box and the packing slip says:

Replaced tape out jack
Replaced battery spring
Replaced DC in jack
Replaced headphone potentiometer
Unit passed all tests

Parts/Labor:  $25.77   :D   & they even gave me a new owner's manual.  Haven't tried it out yet but I'm really impressed with their customer service.

nice...i had a similarlly excellent experience dealing with sound devices when i had mine modded for rechargeables and to give it a tune up.

best product support on the planet

and check that manual...it may be for the mix-pre...at least that is what they sent to me...but they are basically the same.

enjoy your mp-2

2 days.  In on the 15th and out on the 17th.  I called them before I sent it in & they said things were slow so send it in ASAP.

oh, and they send the correct owner's manual, btw.
