UTorrent 1.7.7 Problems.....
« on: July 18, 2008, 01:03:19 AM »
I dunno WTF is up fellas ??? I have been using UTorrent for the last 3 years FLAWLESSLY and have NEVER had this problem :'( I noticed a problem late last night when I tried to torrent the Mike Gordons et from All Good 2008. I copied my .flac16 folder from my internal (D:) HD to my External (I:) where I save ALL of my torrents. I copy the flac16 folder from D>I so that I can start the torrent that way so it doesnt try and DL, but UL's instead. Well, it kept saying 'DOWNLOADING' instead of 'Qeued' and then "UPLOADING' ??? I have prolly torrented 100+ shows and have NEVER had this problem, and have been doing it the SAME EXACT WAY since I started BT'ing things ???

Im LOST right now ???

And I just tried to DL CraigT's Wood Brothers and TBrowns MSMW from AG 2008, and I kept getting the error "Cannot find the specified file's path" or something to that effect ???

ANY help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED ??? I have already tried to uninstall/re-install to no avail. I would REALLY like to get some recordinsg from AG 2008 out there and BT is the only way to do it. I have NO CLUE WTF is going on. My trackers are all good and everything else I looked at looks like it always has. ANYONE have ANY ideas ???

TIA,
Bean

sounds like it's just not pointed to the proper folder.  so it's downloading instead of uploading.  ie when you first click on the torrent file it'll ask where to dl/save etc.  sounds like it's not pointed to the show folder.

as far as trying to dl and it not working it sounds like the same thing.  like it's pointed to a folder that no longer exist.

edit:  pointing it to the drive may not be enough.  you have to point it to the actual show folder.

Gordon, thanks for the reply my friend :) I have goen thru the preferences tho and made sure all of that is the same as it has been. NO LUCK :'(

Anyone else ???

Thats DEFINITELY what it sounds like its doing, but I didnt change A THING on my PC or ANY UTorrent options/preferences, so Im at a TOTAL LOSS :'( Fortueately, 99% of my recordings can go to the LMA, but I REALLY wanted to get my SMOKIN Mike Gordon recording onto bt.etree.org :(

Oh well, thats how life goes I guess :P

And my Zune wont 'Sync' to my new shows Ive added in my Zune folder ??? I dunno WTF is going on ??? Ive tried restarting a few times and NOTHING. Maybe its just time for a new PC :P

Right click on the torrent

Advanced > Set Download Location...

Now look for the show directory and click on it.  Sounds like utorrent just lost track of where things were at and you just need to re-point it to the correct directory.

bean i have an external drive that gets flaky after a few hours of use.  it still shows up as a valid drive letter, but if you try to drill down into a directory, it's blank.

i bet that's what's happening with you.  try hosting of the internal drive, or a different external drive and i bet you'll be fine.

you can still use the flaky drive as storage of non-vital stuff, just not anything that you need to access around the clock.

hope this helps.  mine's in a homebrew case, i can look up the chipset for you tomorrow if you need it.. or you can just take my word that this is also your problem.

Peter, whats weird is, Ive been using the same EXHDD since I started torrenting about 3 years ago, so that doesnt make any sense to me ??? It could be what EITHER of you suggested, but I am trying to float thru ALL of my Ag 2008 recordings and get whatever I can UL'd before I leave to go out of town for work on monday at 5am :P So Im not letting this one show hold me up. what really sucks is tho that I cant even DL the shows I need to fill in my Ag 2008 recordings gaps/holes :'(

Thanks for BOTH of your advice and I hope I can get it going tomorrow :) I have 11 shows UL'd already, so Im caught up on just about everything I care to spread quickly, so maybe tomorrow I'll put aside a few hours and fix this problem :) Whats weird and you may be right Peter is that my Zune folder wont 'sync' correctly either. BOTH my Zune 'syncing' folder and my UTorrent DL's and UL's are done thru my EXHDD, so I hope it starts working correctly again :) I just used PerfectDisk last week before I left for AG and defragged ALL of my drives PERFECTLY to 0.0% fragmentation, so I dunno why theyre acting funky. I'll shut off my EXHDD when I go to bed shortly and see if that helps :) I'll defrag it again too. maybe the MASSIVE AMOUNTS of music I have put on it and moved around the last 5 days has something to do with it too ???

Three years of torrenting is an awful lot of use for a hard drive.  Sounds like you've been really working it - almost constant spinning wears the mechanical parts down.  It may be nearing the end of it's life.  As stated before you might not want to keep any files on it that aren't backed up elsewhere.  I'd consider picking up a replacement external drive.

Right-click the torrent in uTorrent.  At the screen that shows download progress and upload speeds.

Also, if you highlight the torrent you're trying to seed (at the same screen as above), and select the 'General' tab that is beneath the list of your active torrents, what shows up for "Tracker URL" and "General > Save As?"
