UTorrent invaded my web browser...
« on: June 23, 2012, 08:45:03 AM »
I'm a newb to torrents...and had been happy with UTorrent untill the last update...Didn't see that it was putting a search engine or app that attached itself to my Browser and added a new bar that took up more space on the monitor...

Don't take kindly to that...

WHAT CAN I DO TO REMOVE IT...it doesn't seem to have a HIDE for Utorrent

I've learned that every time Utorrent has an update, you have to make sure to uncheck the box that asks if you want their toolbar.....  the same thing happened to me once when I forgot to uncheck that box when downloading an update of Winamp.... I think I just uninstalled it and then reinstalled, making sure that box wasn't checked..... there might be an easier way, of course, but that's what I recall doing.....

Uninstalled...re-installed...I unchecked everything...turned off every radio button associated with it I could find and it was still there

 >:(

In Chrome I noticed a Utorrent icon to the right of the Web Address...that seems to have been the place to remove the search bar

I think the general consensus is the best uTorrent updates are the ones you don't install.

grab one of the later 2.x.x  releases,  then tell it to never check for upgrades.  success.

I reinstalled windows xp(again, fresh install) after realizing what crap utorrent 3.x put on my system.  :flipa:

Thank you, I think the tapes from that weekend came out pretty nice.  Let me know if you find that beachball hit.

It pushed the mics over in my sp-gna-3 holder, and it took me a few seconds to upright them.

as others have said, you want to downgrade, preferably to 2.2.1
Please contact me if you've ever taped the Smashing Pumpkins or a related group!

you can get all the old versions here as well

http://www.filehippo.com/download_utorrent/

as others said 2.2.1 (the build right before 3.0) is the best

http://www.filehippo.com/download_utorrent/9859/

you do have to uncheck the toolbar/browser stuff.  then after installing turn off auto updates.

Add me to the list that needs to downgrade. New is not always better.
