Title: Belden 83803 for shielded AC power run
Post by: DigiGal on February 04, 2011, 07:25:41 PM
Has anyone used Belden 83803 for an AC power run?  It is widely used for making shielded audiophile AC cables.

Belden 83803 cable data sheet (http://diyaudioprojects.com/Power/diyMains/Belden-83803-Cable-Datasheet.pdf)

I'm considering setting up a dedicated circuit breaker for powering our home theater's sound system via the line conditioner.  Wondering if it would be worthwhile to run this cable in-wall say about 30 ft. or just go with standard 12/2 Romex.

eventually power is miles of 2 bare wires hanging beside RF leaking CATV on a pole outside, an expense like that for the final 40ft seems silly to me.  A dedicated circuit is wise though, so get a quality power conditioner and call it good.  IMO of course, YMMV. :)

Thanks Jimna, those are my thoughts too and interested in thoughts and opinions from anyone who may have experience with this cable.

The cable is ridiculously expensive and it is not easy to imagine it would provide any real benefit.  If there were a general consensus that it could be worthwhile it might warrant some serious consideration.

Already have the line conditioner however it is on a shared circuit which includes florescent lights in another room.  I know those lights can/are introducing undesired noise to the AC line and that a dedicated circuit is worth doing.
