Title: Any SD mics besides AKG have angle "knuckles"?
Post by: johnw on December 19, 2004, 07:02:10 PM
We were at a church today that had 10-12 mics hanging from the celining that were obviously SD mics like 480s and had an angle adapter "knuckle" to change the direction of the capsule so it wasn't pointing at the ground. I use the A61 with my 460s and I know that the 300 caps have something similar. I couldn't get close enough to be sure, but the mics at the church didn't look like 460/480s and def. weren't 390s. Any other mics have something similar to this?

Here's the knuckle for the 480s (a61) and 390 (a91)

Isn't it funny that once you get into this hobby you analyze every thing related to mics ect to see if it would be suitable for taping?

Yeah I was figuring up the cost they would have invested in 12 pairs of 481s with the a61 adapters and wondering if they would notice just a few missing.  ::)

Schoeps GVC.

Handy when you need it.

Never knew Schoeps had these - I'm going to have to take a closer look next time I'm there. Thanks.

similar idea but focused on hanging without the full body:

click on accessories and go down the the 3 auditorium hangers.

looking at those pix it looks like you might be able to hack those connectors at the seam and make extensions cables with 'em...

who is going to try it?

AKG has something similar to this too. I think someone (Sonic Sense?) cracked one open to see about making extension cables for the 480 bodies but the result was all static.
