Thinking about getting a Marantz PMD661MKII Oade Concert Mod recorder. Anyone use or have anything to say about it?
-
I have been using this equipment for several years now and I find it quite reliable.

I have used one since 2012. Have the Oade concert mod, which Doug recommended when I told him I use AKG 460b's and naiant ck61's. (as opposed to the warm mod or T mod)
Pretty reliable device. You have to make sure to use recommended SD cards, but there are plenty to choose from on their list.
Marantz claims you void the warranty of you use external batteries, but I'm supposing most of us do! 8) >:D

Funny, I got the second warm mod 661 beginning of 2009 when they came out and Doug said the FETs in the warm mod would smooth out the top end of my 460s and warm up the midrange, which turned out to be true to my ears.

I just put my order in. Looks like they're off backorder.

Related... I have an Advanced Concert Mod HD-P2. If I remember correctly, that mod became the "Warm Mod" when Doug expanded his selection of available mods (Warm, Transparent, etc)...
It could be the same for the 661s???

I've been using an Oade Concert Mod 661 as one of my recorders for ~ the last 5 years. Very reliable, never an issue with this recorder and the recordings made with this recorder sound nice. I think that you'll be happy with your choice!

I have one and it has been great. Mine was custom in that the "-18 dB" setting is actually -24. Reduces the likelihood of brickwalling.
