Links to Universal Rechargeable Battery Packs
« on: September 10, 2007, 04:45:38 PM »
I thought is might be a good to start a thread about websites that you have used to buy reliable universal battery packs. Please try to list the voltage, Watt hour capacity (Volts x Ah = Watt hours), price, and any other pertinent information. Here is one good site that I have used that have several different options for size and voltage:

http://www.bixnet.com/unba.html

This is the one I have used:

http://www.bixnet.com/mumiexbapaki1.html
Key Features:
High capacity. Most Digital Cameras/Video Camcorder's standard batteries only have 5Wh~10Wh capacity. This battery has 44Wh (Watt-Hour) capacity. For reference, an AA battery has about 2.7Wh capacity (1.8Ah at 1.5V). This may help calculating your expected run time.
Ultra light weight design.
The capacity at different DC output:
5V----8800mAh; 8.4V----5200mAh; 11V----4000mAh
Charge Time: (fully discharged) 3Hours(4hours Maximum charge)
$99

Why spend so much when this does the same thing?

I believe they are both 4500mAh or somewhere there abouts.

And that is exactly why I want people to post here. Thanks, TaperMark. Now if someone is looking for a 9V battery they know where to find it. My goal is to compile as many as possible and then create a master list on my original post.

Here is one that puts out 16 or 19 volts.
I use it with my Sonosax pre, because it seems to like the higher voltages.

Looks to be a good, pretty cheap, quite small, neat option for units that need ~5V like the Korg-MR-1...with some luck it even has the correct plug (can anyone with a Sony PSP maybe recheck??))

Do any of the above rechargeable Li-Ion batteries (12V or higher) have the same output connector as the 9V wal-mart DVD batteries?

I need a rechargeable battery 12V-19V to power my audio bag, but it must have the same output connector (on the battery itself) as the DVD batteries that we are all used to.

Hopefully this makes sense. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Rick, but from the photos, the DC output jacks on the Tekkeon batteries look nothing like the output on the wal-mart type 9V DVD batteries. I don't think either of those will work.

Any other suggestions?

There's a bunch of these laptop batteries on ebay right now, looks similar in size to the standard universal dvd bats, but 20,000mAh/74wh
4.2v, 5v, 6v, 8.4v, 9v, 16v, and 19v.
$120 shipped from Hong Kong:
http://tinyurl.com/35uj5n

This one appears to be a different variety of the one above, they look identical but claiming different output voltages:
7.4v, 7.2v, 10.8v, 11.1v, 14.4v , and 14.8v.
Same price..$120 shipped from Hong Kong:
http://tinyurl.com/2dee55

Not the cheapest batteries out there but they looked interesting enough to post here.

This one looks decent $19.99 shipped:
9v 6000mAH
http://store.dyscern.com/items/item.aspx?itemid=777343&CAWELAID=138902625
these show up on ebay from time to time, but the auctions w/shipping($14) usually end higher than you can get right from their store.

edit: apparently they are no longer selling these.
