PM John Wilett here on TS, or contact him on his website.  He is the UK Gefell distributor and will be able to point you in the right direction.

In the USA, Gefell repairs are now being handled via Claudia Haase.  :coolguy:

She is based in New York and her e-mail is: claudia(at)streamworkv.us

If you need a telephone number please send me a PM as I don't want to put a telephone number on a public forum. (Telephone sent by PM)

She will be able to sort it for you.

When Gefell repair a mic. they put it back into the anechoic chamber to measure it and make sure it is fully complies with the same spec. as when it was first made.  :coolguy:

Thanks for the guidance....more than likely these are going up for sale with the caveat that something is wrong with either a cap or a body.  Working on identifying specific issues as i type.

What exactly is wrong??  Can't you determine if it is the cap or body with some trouble shooting and switching the caps from one body to the next.  I might be interested if the caps are in working order.  LMK

thats exactly what im doing now....effect/issue is similar to the 'humidity effect' and theres a small signal disconnect.  swapped caps on the bodies to see if its either the cap or the body, or a combo of both.  bodies and caps will be sold as a set.  im taping less that 2x yearly now, and really have no desire to have them sent back to Germany for repair.  its not cable, pre, or recorder issue.  those have all been eliminated.

example:
drop out present on recording
cap 0334 body 0701

no drop out
cap 0333 body 0700

I am potentially interested in the caps and bodies, but would like to know if the cap or body is the problem.

The email is:- claudia(at)streamworkz.us

It's a "z" at the end, not a "v" - sorry, she was spelling it over the phone to me and was trying to say the American version of Z as "zee" which I heard as "vee" we call a "Z" "zed".

So - it's claudia(at)streamworkz.us

and, yes, she is the main US contact for Gefell repairs now.

Almost a year later, Claudia is still the contact for your Gefell repairs. In contact with her now for a repair for distortion in one of my M20 caps, trying to get the cap screens replaced as they were mashed when I bought them years ago and general once over of the MV 200 preamp bodies since I owned them before getting the Nickie/FollowingBob colletes.

I'll report back once the ball gets rolling.

If memory serves Claudia handled the return of my new Aeta4Minx purchased a couple of years ago.  Aeta shipped it out with a "loose bolt" rattling around inside of the unit.   Inspection and return was quick and Claudia was super helpful!

My pair of Gefell M200's belonged to Doug Oade at some point in time. I sent them in to Gefell for a checkup around 10 years ago in a group shipment with Gutbucket & Chuck here at TS.  Gefell reskinned the M20's and matched them, they also inspected the MV 200 preamps, replaced some of the components and installed new outer shells.  I was VERY happy with their work and the "good as new" factory finished product.

Good luck!

Hi sorry I missed all this, I dealt with Microtech directly in Gefell for a repair, it took 7 months but in the end I had two perfectly matched M296s. There was an issue with one, feedback, in January and they sent a ppd UPS label for both and turned the repair around in about 1 month, no charge, as warranty.

Thee is no need, as far as I can see, in going through a middleman.

Here is my contact's info:

Intermittent...one preamp body on occasion would have a spike (& sometimes not for a show but would be back eventually)...then go back to normal...on Nick’s Colette caps were fine for years...Then one cap started acting up.

At least that’s the conclusion I made. If they come back with a clean bill of health, I‘ll continue to trouble shoot. The caps are very early M20’s so it was time for a checkup. Also I wanted to replace the protective metal screen in front of the cap...they were mashed when I got them.

Does anyone know what volts are on the original M70 and M94 capsules?I've got one pair of each.  Looking to build an Active Franken Rig.
This is one of many projects I've got on the go.No recording now, so now I have time to do crazy stuff.
Tools of the trade: Hot melt glue, epoxy, gaffers tape, soldering iron, ........ , insert more here.

Hallelujah...my sweet Gefell's are back home...Shipped out April first and returned August Twenty Seventh...Caps have some markings I don't recall..appears as a glossy wear or mashing down of the satin Nickel surface of which the same is not visible on the body...screens were mashed into the cap membrane and caused sonic issues in the report...possible that marking is related to pressing a new screen into the cap housing as they were replaced.

The mashed screens were present when I purchased them in the yard,
