side note does anyone knows how come some search "words" don't show up?

Unfortunately I don't have any examples, but when I made the switch, it was pretty much night and day sound wise.  I was surprised too, didn't think cables had that much effect, but it definitely made my tapes sound a ton better.

as for searching, i can never find anything unless i used the advance search.

I recorded a brass band outdoors with both these cables (one set each). If you want, I can set something up.

The convienience of the size of bbees or dogstars are worth the extra $$$ to me.  I have a total of 60' of bbee cables in my gear bag now just in case.  60' of starquad would take up my entire bag without the rest of my gear if I tried to carry that much around.

But alas the difference is noticable right away.  When I first switched over to silvers it really cleaned up the sound.  The most noticable difference was that the mudd on the bottom end of some of my old recordings seemed to just dissappear when I was running C4s>UA5.

the only thing i don't like about the silver cables is that i have to carry around an extra battery, as they seem to drain my batteries faster than star quad does.  but, for the sound, it is worth it.

I can totaly believe that cable type will affect battery life... after I got one of these and conditioned all my cable, I've not seen any batter drain issues.

good god a cable cooker!!

Really I think using eutectic solder would make a bigger difference than the difference between silver and star quad cable when we are talking lengths under 25'....

I've arranged to travel to Vatican City to have my cables blessed by the Pope.

Just out of curiosity, have you used a DVM to test your silver cables?  You may have a high impedence short causing a drain of the 48V but not enough to stop your mics from operating properly or trigger the fuse in your battery.

Edit:  Be sure to use the resistance test on the DVM and use a setting in the 100K range if your DVM does not autorange.  A high impedence short is not likely to trigger the continuity detection test mode.  The simple LED cable testers that people make won't detect this condition either.

You should be aware that if you do this, you won't be allowed to ever unplug the cables unless they go completely bad.
