ORTF Windjammer for MKH 8040st
« on: April 29, 2011, 07:57:00 PM »
Is there a turnkey option for this setup? I've tried to search here, but haven't found anything. I've looked through the rycote / rode pages, but didn't find anything specific to this application. Similar to the schoeps setup for the ccm's there is a french custom build outfit for the 8040's that bills about $1500.

I haven't made the direct calls to  rode / rycote yet. I know the baby ball gag is an option, but all in one would be good too, no?

What say you?

Rycote do a windshield for this.

It's a windshield that you use on its side, I think, and they do a special mount for it.

You do need to talk to Rycote direct as there is nothing published about this.

Could you use a blimp and a bar style mount such as the Schoeps mstgc?
Music can at the least least explain you and at the most expand you

john,

do you know if the mic clip / suspension is a lyre type that has been adapted to be adjustable for angle and distance? i'll be attempting a phone call to rycote sometime over the next week.

H2O,

that's exactly what i'm looking for.  blimp and bar. suspension mounts that can adjust for angle and distance (ortf, din), and allow a nice fit with connectors. not paying the huge $$$ for the french set i found is the goal.

But, the baby ball gag x2 may be the most flexible in the long run.

Don't call today - it's a bank holida.

The suspensions are definitely Lyres - I think angle is adjustable but I'm not sure about distance - Rycote will tell you.

These may be too big and you won't get the correct angle/distance (but ask Rycote).

The Stereo Extended ball gag works well, but only for XY I think.
