Plug-In-Power on Digi Camera...
« on: June 13, 2011, 02:33:23 PM »
I have access to a Point and Shoot camera that has an 1/8" microphone input.
Input impedance:  2kohm
Sensitivity:  -42db or less
Plug-In-Power (PIP):  2.63v DC

My question is...............  can I run an external preamp/battery box/line-output/headphone jack of audio rig> mic input (w/PIP) of camera safely??
Or would the 2.63v PIP of camera "zap" my preamp/battery box/line-output/headphone jack of audio rig and do harm??

I would like to feed the audio (from the line-output/headphone jack or external preamp/battery box) of my audio rig > 1/8" microphone jack w/PIP of my camera without causing any harm to any gear.  I can not turn of the PIP on the camera.

Thanks.

You need to attenuate the signal by 50dB for avoid brickwalling and to put 2 condenser in between  to filter de bias or PIP

I designed the 9000 preamp for this situation. With its gain settings and attenuation capabilities. And there should be no issue with the plug in voltage.
