Impact 8 ft stand LS-A5
« on: January 17, 2014, 08:31:19 AM »
I bought this stand for my grandparents house down in Florida, so when I come down I'd have a stand there and not have to take on of the plane every time. So I was shocked at the weight difference as well as size difference between it and my creative light 13 ft stand that I lugged everywhere for an entire year, which is a phenomenal stand by th way.

So I figured I would put out some info on it opinion wise.

It's tiny when broken down
Very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very Very very very very very very very very very very very very very very veryVery very very very very very very very very very very very very very veryVery very very very very very very very very very very very very very very light, weighs what feels like nothing.
It would hold actives for small mics well, I'm putting 460s and bsc-1 on it outdoors tonight so ill tell you how that goes. Just a but to wobbly
You need to get a rapid adapter to get it to 3/8 or whatever your using

So if you buy it pictured are deceiving, ill post a photo with a shoe next to it or something so you get an idea, and ill give the dimentions of the shoe or what I use.

I hope this helps someone

It's definitely a great value. But be careful tightening it. Mine broke after not very many uses. Similar to the Matthews products, it's a bit of a you get what you pay for situation with these.

Here's a photo. That's a lowepro nova 200 AW and a size 13 shoe. The bag is almost half the size of the stand. The photos online all make it look way bigger than it actually is, so it's small.

i don't have any experience with these but the 13' air cushion http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=253065&is=REG&Q=&A=details looks exactly like the one i have just rebranded
talon http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=97422&Q=&is=REG&A=details (the knobs on mine match the impact one)
its a tank but its tall, prob 4' and heavy enough
i also have a dynatran as-806a
its much lighter but the tubing you can tell isn't as strong overall and still 3.5'
if you don't plan on beating the hell out of it you will be fine

where did you get the ls-a5?? I don't see it in searches

Nice Cam! Thats one tinyass stand! Hopefully it lasts awhile. And since you will only be using it a few times a year, its should last a long time! Get yourself a Lowel Half Pole, and youd have a sweet setup for those chattyass crowds ;)
