Topic: removing clips from Church Audio CA-11's...?

I've purchased a used pair of CA-11's and I'm not happy with the way the clips stick to the mics. Has anyone tried to remove the clips from the mics, without breaking them?

I believe they are soldered on.  I had Chris remove mine and I now use a Shure clip.

The Shure rotating clips would fit these mic ..wouldn't they?

Yes they do....that is what I use.  The aligator clips were too limiting.

yes, those aligator clips are soldered on the mics and they do not do it for me.

the Shure clips sound and look promising, guess I'm going for these littel bitches.

@taylordb: can I use the Shure clips on the Church mics with the aligator clips as well? or do i necessarily need to have the aligators removed before putting Shure clips on the mic? just wondering, coz if it would work out as well i wouldnt need to go thru the troubles of removing the shit.

I know this is a very old thread but it's all I found in a search.  has anyone successfully done this themselves?  it's hard to tell if it's soldered on or some type of epoxy.  either way if you protect the mic and cables it seems like with a heat gun it would be easy enough.  I've desoldered dc jacks off motherboards before so I don't see why it'd be much different.

I dont think its a good idea. Unless you have a aluminum heat sink I use to cool the capsule body. Its also very tricky with the epoxy I use to backfill the capsule. So its cheaper and your less likely to have an issue if you just send them to me. I will do it for free and repaint them and you pay for return shipping. They are not glued on they are soldered at 850 degrees F with lead free solder that is very hard to remove especially with a regular iron.

You need At cips for 900 series mics. They fit my ca-14 mics.
