.txt File Help
« on: July 18, 2007, 11:36:06 AM »
I recorded a show. Post processed it. I know that when sharing, a .txt file is included. What should I put in this?

That's pretty much it.
Also, go to the Kickdown Section and check out some of the text files others have created.

what I did when I first started taping was go to archive and check out a bunch of files.  Then get an idea of what YOU like to see in a text file.  once you know what you like make a template so you don't forget anything.  done.

I think Corbin's sample pretty much covers it.  In addition to what Corbin listed, I often list the post-processing functions I've performed (e.g. normalize, track, fade, resample, dither, compression, etc.), but not the specific configurations for each post-processing function.

I try to keep detailed notes about each function I use in post-processing for my own purposes - not usually in the info file - but don't always remember.

after converting your WAV files to FLAC, typically folks include a 'ffp' otherwise known as a flac fingerprint.  it is essentially a md5 or checksum of the files, to make sure the downloader has gotten ALL of the date.

easiest way, drag your FLAC files into FLAC Frontend, and choose Fingerprint.  it'll make a text file, ask you where to save and and then you are good.
