if nobody beats me to it I can probably do this tonight. I had a couple inv-6's on my xmas list and Santa hooked me up. I can say the inv-6 looks perfect for an ORTF or DIN/DINa since it has the shorter spacing. I was trying it out last night.

for the longer bars such as A-B and maybe even the NOS the inv-7 will give a little more stability since they are intended to support longer mic bodies like the AKG 460s. I haven't tried the longer mics/bars in an inv-6 yet but suspect it'll be a little too wobbly.

For any bars longer than that, you'd do better to get the heavy grade INV (like the HG-2 or HG-3, whatever number they are on), I think that was about as far as I pushed mine when I had a set of beyer remote caps. The weight of the bar and caps cause the smaller lyres to sag which reduces their effectiveness.

^Or you could use two mounts on one Vark Bar if using the large/long active bar.  Maybe overkill, but very sturdy.
....but check out the HG-MKII....  it's pretty great too!

NB: The INV-7 has 3 options.

1) The standard wide spacing.
2) Move the rear Lyre forward and you get the narrow spacing of the INV-6 instead.
3) Move the front Lyre instead and you get a medium spacing.

The INV-7 is *very* flexible.

I know that you can purchase replacement/upgrade lyres, but is the INV-7 built so that there is a middle screw holder, thus an enterprising individual could screw on a third middle lyre for additional support of heavier loads?

Yes - the INV-7 has 3 screw holes.

So yo can move the Lyres around to make different spaces (as I said) - or, as you suggested - adding an extra one.

A picture of an active bar in my Rycote mount is in this thread: http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=165122.0

As I noted elsewhere, if you are only concerned with mounting a bar in it, rather than individual mics, this Rycote is a better choice at same price: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/880280-REG/Rycote_041118_INV_8_Microphone_Suspension.html

I use an HG-MkIII with active bars and it works well.  A very substantial mount.  Just keep in mind that it is a bit wide (2.75 inches) and may be a problem with shorter bars like a DINa where the back of the collettes and the cables protrude at an inward angle.

^I'm not familiar with the HG-MKIII, but a DINa bar fits in the HG-MKII just fine.

Snugger with my AKG actives than my Schoeps actives due to the construction of the collette and cables.
