Topic: In the market for an Iriver - need help choosing a model please

Hi. My husband does all of the recording in the family and has JB3 currently. I'd like an ipod but he said there are some players like iriver that have a line in and can be used for field recording but I'm struggling to decifer the reviews/specifications for what he would want and need in this device... so, I'm turning to you all for a little help.

Suggestions on what I should purchase are welcomed...

mind that all these are discontinued models,
only used ones available, right here at the yard sale, ebay asf.
but still, for recording only any of those four ( also H340 )

I'm seriously considering an iRiver also.  Was thinking about an Edirol R-09 but my budget is very tight.  One thing tempting me with the Edirol is that maybe I could get by with the internal mics for awhile.  I plan to record a lot of ambient/nature so being very portable is important to me.

iriver h120/h140 have both analog and digital in,
iriver h320/340 only have analog in (but have usbotg)
both are well supported by rockbox.
the h1x0 ones have monochrome display, the h3x0 ones are color.
although I've touched a h1x0, I get the feeling the 3x0 keys are harder to click by accident than the h1x0 joything (I've never used 'hold' so far)
