I'm putting a comprehensive web page together about protable power and was curious what chargers most are running?
If you could tell me:
what make and model of charger you use
any good or bad aspects of the charger
approximate retail price.
Thanks all...hopefully I'll have this page together in a wekk or so. :)

Radioshack 6V SLA charger (cat# 23-389) $15
has both fast and trickle charge modes with lights to indicate which mode it is in. outputs 500mA.
good points: cheap and easy to find.

dodge... get it? :-P

brian, i use an ecocharge SC-61 6 volt charger, its the shizzle....it has indefinite float mode so you know your batt is good to go, and overall is VERY quality built....i believe they run 80-90 bux per charger(the ONLY downside)!!!
and thanks for putting this together!!!

for my sla batteries i use a xenotronix hpx10 charger and it works great. it has a fast charge and a float and can charge batteries up to 12mAh (xenotronix claims it only goes up to 10mAh, but it has no problems charging my 12mAh). i think it goes for around $45 - $50 directly from xenotronix. the only down side is that it comes w/ clips and you need to solder a 4pin xlr on. i've been told the eco-charge is a rebranded xenotronix charger but i'm not completely sure about that.
for my rechargeable nimh batteries i use the maha smart charger, which has a fast charge and a float. i picked it up for around $25 locally.

yah im really curious what the eco charge is, it looks exactly like the 12v powersonic chargers

I believe Eco uses all Xenotronix chargers. I have been using the same with no problems (4+ years). I also hear the Power Sonic chargers are more durable, but I have never used one. I ordered my Xenotronix chargers directly from the manufacturer...

Currently using BatteryMinder chargers. Both 6v (VDC-12106)and 12v (VDC-12112) Those model numbers might be unique to Battery Mart.
What I like:
-desulfates/conditions
-smart circuitry, can be left on ~forever
No complaints so far.

BTW, Moke, for Thomas Distributing try this if you're looking for the old school-style website: http://www.thomasdistributing.com

Xenotronix.

IMO, for 6v (and I think they make a 12v model) the batteryminder is *the* charger. Outputs a shitload of a current, so it charges very fast, auto trickle, auto conditioning. complete "plug and forget" action.
not cheap, but worth it.

For my NiMh i use one of these http://www.duratrax.com/caraccys/dtxp4100.html
Charges quickly ( 3 A ) , can run off of DC , conditions, auto-trickle, and runs about $30 used on eBay.
