Title: Walmart ($50) vs. Ebay Rayovac ($10) 9V Lithium Ion battery
Post by: winisp on February 15, 2006, 10:10:54 AM
I need a batt to power an Apogee Minime. From reading various threads, the Walmart type 9V LIon meets my needs for being lightweight and adequate charge time.

This thread (http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=38838.0) provides links to Walmart.com and recommends checking EBay for Memorex or ESA batts which are comparable to the Walmart batt

This EBay link has what looks like a comparable external batt with a current bid of $9.99.

Walmart batt: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=2350787

Is this Rayovac 9V batt equivalent to the Walmart? It is much less expensive (even if price goes up) and shipping is comparable.

Anyone have any experience with the Rayovac or any advice on which to buy? Seems too good to be true.

Thanks,
 Scott

FWIW CompUSA h as a new DVD battery that has 6000MAH, I think it outputs 9v, but you may want to check it out.  I think it was around $50

I have 3 of the Walmart batteries.  All branded ESA.  I think I got two of them for less that $6 bucks each and the 3rd for like $14.  So if you can get them for $10 go for it.

Yes I did.  The two least expensive ones were from Trading Circuit.  They were a Circuit City liquidation company.  Ii think its how they got rid of returns, overstock and the like.

Keep looking on ebay as these things come up all the time.  For what ended up costing me less than $50 total for the three plus shipping I kinda don't care if the are 100% pristine looking as if one fails they are cheap to replace.

i just got a 2nd esa off of ebay, this time from trading stock, looks to be pretty pristine, haven't used it yet though. glad to hear you've had good experiences with them. the 1st one i got was all scrathed up (from a different seller) but it works perfectly and that's all that matters to me. although I think i ended up paying closer to 25 for each one, still not a bad deal IMO.
