be careful with any sony md deck that uses the automatic loading mechanism.  i've had mine break on me 3 times now.  all (fortunately) under warranty.  my friend just bought a sony on ebay, and what do you know, the loading mechanism broke.

I had a 510 in the past with no problems.  Sold it but now I want it back.  Can't decide on another 510 or not.

I had a 510 and the loading mechanism broke, so I switched it out with the one in my 320 and it was a good as new, except it didn't read MDs recorded in my newer Sharp portable :hmmm:

I've got a 510 that works great, but I did bookmark a site that has the repair if it ever breaks.

I had a 320 (or was it 330) and the damn mechanism broke as well, drove me nuts with all that grinding noise it made, plus it added quite a few permanent drop outs on some md's that had to be disposed of.  I now own a MXD-D5C and love that deck, works flawlessly after two years of owning it and recording thousands of hours of music to MD's.
