Need open low profile ideas - not stealth
« on: October 04, 2007, 09:00:25 AM »
I need some ideas for a good "open" low profile technique to use.  I'm going to a show that is taper friendly, but may choose to fore go the stand and just go with Church Audio cards > ST-9000 > R-09 from the sweet spot on the GA floor.  I'm 6" 1', so something to my hat might work best?  Could probably get pretty close to a DIN config.   :)

Two stands are allowed to set up in a designated area next to the soundboard.  I believe I'll be the only taper at this particular show.

been in there before?

How does it sound from the board area?

Can you stand still long enough to run FOB?

+T, Tommy. :)

Never been there.

I'm told the sound is better at the center spot about 15-20 ft back from the stage.  One guy described the sound near the sbd as muddy.

The stand still part - I'm a big guy, so no one will be moving me, but I'll have one of my children with me and I don't know what that will bring with it.  She'll likely want to be as close to the front as possible and she is old enough to be down there by herself.  The last show, she chatted with me several times during the show and her woots were prominent at times.  Hmmm.... the sbd area might be a better idea.

I still wouldn't mind a few ideas.

Personally I would run DIN from the board area.  I know how daughters can be :)

May be time to buy a rig for her  ;)

You should hear some of the low profile ideas she comes up with.  She could be a natural, except for the wooting part. ;)

She is going to Hannah Montana in a couple months with her sisters and my wife.  I've been trying to convince my wife to let her bring the gear.  >:D

She might be the only person to see Govt Mule and Hannah Montana in the same month.

Please bring some ear plugs for the little one.
It's best not to expose her ears to high SPL's.
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.

Microphones: AKG C 480 B comb-ULS/ CK 61/ CK 63, Sennheiser MKE 2 elements,  Audix M1290-o, Micro capsule active cables w/ Naiant PFA's, Naiant MSH-1O, Naiant AKG Active cables, Church CA-11 (cardioid), (1) Nady SCM-1000 (mod)
Pre-amps: Naiant littlebox, Naiant littlekit v2.0, BM2p+ Edirol UA-5, Church STC-9000
Recorders: Sound Devices MixPre-6, iRiver iHP-120 (Rockboxed & RTC mod)

She always wears hearing protection as do I.

I think recording from the section would be best, as you could have more interaction with her.

+T for the hearing protection.
