Title: Initial "Wal-Mart" battery $29.99 on clearance!
Post by: Genghis Cougar Mellen Khan on May 18, 2005, 10:23:35 AM
I called 3 nearby stores so far, 2 out of 3 have them in stock, they are on clearance for $29.99 from $49.87. If I didn't just spend all my extra cash on new toys I'd pick some up and sell them for cost/shipping.

I used the store locator on their site, I wasn't even aware of a couple of them.

I just called and asked for electronics, and if they had the portable DVD battery made by Initial.

Since they are on clearance, I'm assuming they won't be carrying them anymore.

Just FYI
there are tons of batts just like this On Ebay.
I picked up a couple of them for less than $25 shipped.

Nick, what did you search under? I don't need one, but perhaps some of those that aren't lucky enough to have them at a close store might be able to save a couple bucks...

Initial portable DVD
DVD battery
portable dvd battery

My searches didn't yield any results, just one used and one for $54.

I searched under universal dvd battery adn found some batteries that are quite similar, but all were used. Apparently ESA and memorex have a battery that is  an exact copy of the initial.

I just picked up another one last night for $4 plus $9 shipping for a total of $13 shipped.
I have been testing this setup with the Sima and Wallyworld Voltage Box this last week and so far so good , I have ran double Jb3's and a UA-5 for over 4 hours with this setup twice now
see this post . http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=38106.msg549425#msg549425

ESA makes the Memorex and Initial batterys, there simply rebranded.
SO far I have one ESA and one Memorex (both are Identical) and should have my 3rd ESA in a few day's.

Its gonna be nice to lug around three of these for Wakarusa instead of the 3 SLA's ;)

heres a direct link to what is up right now.. Your loking for model # U2003

Nick, what's the mah on those?  I'm thinking of picking one up, I just got a sima sup-2 last week and now I'm looking for a power source.  These seem to be great buys!

I'm not Nick, but the Initial RB-270 (aka Wal-Mart bettery here) states that it's 5400mAh.  I'm not sure if anyone has tsted that, but it seems to have worked for plenty of people.

I remember hearing that about the initial battery.  However, I've tried two walmart stores in my area and have not been able to find one.  Now I am hoping that the esa/memorex batteries are just as good.

It's identical, like stated above, it's just re-branded.  Same exact product, they just put on a different sticker or logo.

ESA, Memorex and Initial

Check out some of the links above, you might be able to get one for a steal!

Both batts I have are 9 volt 5400 Mah (as I stated one is a Energizer and one is a ESA both are the same model # U2003)

I have not ran the batts fully down yet But I have ran 2 Jb3's (approx 400Mah a piece ?) and a UA-5 powering the 483's (approx 550Mah) for just over 4 hours .
This is more than I will normally run so I have not tried to test this any further. I would guess with just one JB3 you could run for a little over 5 hours or so .

Im planning on taking 3 of these to wakarusa and I plan on taping about 14-16 hours worth of stuff. Im still bringing one 5Ah SLA (cause Im kinda weird like that)  ::)
But I hope to not have to use it..
