Title: external battery pack for a laptop
Post by: thoman8r on January 09, 2005, 11:33:48 AM
How difficult is it to make an external battery pack for a laptop.  I'm getting a notebook, mostly for school, but eventually I'd like the option to use it for recording.  Unfortunately it is a Toshiba and it only has one battery slot.  I've heard of people making external packs, but I have no idea what is involved.

Thanks,

Dave

your best bet is probably going to be a Valence N-Charge.
you could build a SLA pack for the laptop, but that would be a LOT of lead to carry...most laptops that I worked on the past few years required at least 18V

This should probably be in "remote power"  however...take a look at this thread

i searched for an alternative for latpops...good luck...

the N-charge is the best bet by far....you can get them at bestbuy now too...150$ + 10$ for the adapter for your laptop...

Thanks guys, I think I'm just going to wait for a good deal from dell or another manufacturer that supports multiple internal batteries.

+T to you both.
