MP2 and MBHO question
« on: July 16, 2004, 12:15:27 PM »
Kids,

I run 603a mics into a V2 and ADC20. I was hearing that the MP2 is a good product with the 603a mics, but lo and behold, they are not made anymore. Has anyone run the "sister product" the mixpre, i think its called?

Also, when you run the active cables, do you still keep the bodies in the loop or do you mod your pre to accept the active cables? I know that's a little ignorant, but i've been accused of worse by better.  ;)

Thanks,
UJ

the MixPre is *almost* exactly the same as the MP2.
think there is a MP2 for sale in the yard sale section...

you keep the bodies in the signal path, example: KA200> active cable> 603a>xlr cable(or not)> MP2

the water's clean and innocent

I say dump the adc20 for a modsbm-1, I loved the V2/modsbm-1 sound with the MBHO's.

I ran MBHO>V2, and MBHO>MP2...and definitely prefer the MP2 tapes. The V2 makes the already bright MBHO sound (which I happen to love) even brighter, where as the MP2 really fattens and warms up the sound.

Just my $.02

I ran mp-2 modsbm-1 then v2 modsbm-1, liked the V2 combo better, but I have always had an ear that loves that Grace sound....either way you can't lose in the end
