Title: What is the Best Wire for Microphone Cable...
Post by: cavernut on April 25, 2009, 05:46:00 PM
I am building a couple of Mic Cables so i have a couple of different sizes with Right Angle Connectors.

I was looking at these possibilities:
Canare L4E6S
Belden 8412
Gepco XB201M

I found them here:
http://www.fullcompass.com/category/Single-Portable-Microphone-Cable.html

Do any of you have better suggestions?

I also noticed even though these cables were all recommended for use on XLR Connectors, they are only single pair cables with lots of shield.
Are there any recommendable cables that have three conductors plus a lot of shield, thus making it easier to solder to an XLR connector?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

My fave is Canare L4E6S.  Robust, flexible, excellent specs, available in a variety of colors, 4-conductor design helps ensure quiet performance (Electro-Magnetic rejection) even in unfamiliar venues.

I've been making my cables out of Canare L-4E5C.

Basically the same as Canare L4E6S, just a little smaller and lighter.
