Let's say the recording room has natural re verb, is it necessary or needed to use a plug-in? Plug-in to much in this case? OR would it be best to capture the re-verb in room with a delay and call it done? What's your opinions?
I sometimes use plug-in reverb over recordings made is spaces a little to 'tight' and boxy sounding (for example a Piano recorded in a living room). Can help to smooth things out a little.
If it sounds better/good then do it. Generally tho most bands play in very live sounding environments and adding reverb is a backward step.
If you are recording instruments in a controlled setting then I usually try to get the recording as dry as possible and add my own reverb/delays/effects later. Gives much more post production flexibility.
But if the room sounds good, then record it.
