Title: need recommendations for stick recorder
Post by: mikext on April 04, 2005, 02:05:01 PM
Hi there, I am looking for an ultra portable recording setup with the following criteria.
Very small size.
Ideally solid state, with usb connection for file transfer.
Needs to be able to record 2 hours in one file.
Encode input directly as mp3 (192kbps)
Needs to be replaceable and readily available (cheap)

The priority is small size over ultimate recording quality, I know you all are huge fans of the creative jb3 but this is too big for my purposes, needs to be as tiny as possible.

I also ideally need a device that's going to do this:
combine 1 x mono line level signal and 1x mic level signal into a stereo input into the line in of the recorder.
I tried making a lead up and testing with
1x battery powered electret mic + 1x  mono line level from a cd player
into the stereo in of a minidisc recorder, but for some reason the mic signal gets scrambled (possibly an impedance issue?)

Any suggestions and tips appreciated, cheers :)
