This could be general for any small diaphragm condensor, but I happen to have a pair of Rode NT-5's and a stereo mounting bar. I can't seem to find a picture on how to do XY, looks like I'd need a short standoff, maybe 1/2" or so, for one of the mics in order to get them on top of each other without some funky angles, it seems like this would work better with the mic's parallel to each other?
Does anyone have a picture of two SDC's mounted XY like this, and/or a source for a short extension, my searches haven't unveiled anything.

I cannot post a picture but I can tell you that one brand I know of sells a spacer to use for setting up their cards in an XY array. If you look at the many manufacturers websites you will see pictures on some of how they use these spacers. Perhaps Rode does, too.
These two pics are from DPA. They do not show the spacer itself but do make it obvious that one is used.

as long as your T bar will allow for the arrangement, and all you need is a riser for one mic...this should be all you need, it will give you about 1" of rise(unless you're using windscreens, then you may need 2 or more):

depending on your setup you may also need one of these to go from 3/8 > 5/8

I recommend using exactly what busterr posted.
Here is a pic of my t-bar/mics with one mic using this method.
I would also suggest you get two of each.
Can necer have enough adapters. ;D

Thanks! That riser looks like exactly what I was looking for. I was looking for "standoff", "extension", etc...the "riser" was the magic word. I knew it existed but couldn't find it. All set. Thanks much...off to B&H.

Got NT-5's
but I never run XY - I used to experiment with it using my old TOA K1's
and never really like the "Stereo Image" that it creates
but yes a spacer or riser is needed depending on how you want your caps aligned
folks used to run them aligned on a vertical axis cross coincident CC at 90° like this X being each cap and its alignment R L
or
you can run them facing each other / \ spaced

I think some may have called this NC or Near coincident
though I may have that backwards and they are opposite
I really Like ORTF or DINa
as 17 cm is the average distance between human ears using them spaced this way it gives a natual sound
without being to wide and hollow or too thin and narrow
