This might just be one of the most comprehensive mic config sites I've seen:

yes
the decca tree is commonly a 5.1 setup.  do a google search and you'll see some mics setup like this.  pretty cool stuff.
I didnt know it was as old as it is...

My problem with a lot of these configuration sites is, I need a realife picture of the set up to truley visualize what they are saying in those illustrations......

and they don't take into consideration shockmounts a lot of times, which trips me up
for whatever reason.
