Tascam DR-1/07 or Edirol R-09?
« on: March 22, 2009, 11:47:27 PM »
I'm upgrading my gear. I was actually quite happy with my Zoom but I needed a second recorder so it's a good time to get something more proper with a better preamp and a gain slider that also controls the line-in, and has more than 3 modes.

The Tascam DR-07 seems amazing for it's price and it has an analog limiter, but then I read here somewhere that the used price for the Edirol R-09 (not the new one) is about as much as a new Tascam DR-07.

It seems both have two different methods of controlling the gain, as with the Zoom H2. At the Zoom one of them are digital, and hence pretty much useless. Anyone know anything about this with the R-09 or Tascam DR-1/07?

Is the limiter digital on the Edirol R-09?

Thanks
