and i think it is available now (in fw 2.20)...

Good to see Blu-Ray finally catching up to the extinct HD DVD. ;)
In all seriousness, this keeps the PS3 bar none the player to own right now.
-
So it looks like the 80 gig machine is off the market and the 40 gig is only available off the shelf?
I'm still on the hunt for a 60 gig locally, used. My stores say they do come in, but then sell immediately.
When does the new PS3 that replaces the 80 gig debut?

i'm just hoping the PS3 will be cheaper by the time final fantasy xiii comes out :P

The 80gb is coming back on or around June 12...it's just going to be the Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle for quite a while. Should still be $499, but w/ MGS4 and a dualshock3 controller rather than the current motion sensing one.

i just scored a 60gb ps3 for freeeeee :)
it has been unused for a long time - in fact so long she has to find me the cords and controller
can anyone tell me how to check the firmware and wantnot - there is no manual and the only one online i have found is the quick start

It's under one of the XMB (cross media bar) settings, 2nd from left I think and near the top. Go to "update system" and it should tell you if there is a newer firmware available or not.

fw 3.0 is out.
also - in that system tab in the xmb, there should be a system information choice, that will tell you the firmware you are running...

love that they fixed the issue with the audio outs int he latest release.
Not the biggest deal but I hated having to switch the output between my tv or stereo depending on the need. Now all the outs are live.

Wow... that's great news! What about the video outs though? I hate changing the audio everytime I switch between TV and projector also, but if they didn't change the identical video output issue then it's not much of an improvement as I would have hoped for.

ok got my hdmi cable
not i just need to find the remote and power cord
if i am going hdmi for audio and video i don't need to worry about the other audio outs correct

I cannot answer that question. I never read the release notes but happend to check to see what was new and the audio was at the top of the breakdown.
I only use HDMI for video so do not have a 2nd video connection active at the moment.
