? about cables needed for patching

(1/2) > >>

leehookem:
alright, I got my JB3 set up and ready to go.  now I need to get the cables needed to patch.  I realize that most folks that have rigs also have the cables needed, but I would like to have everything myself.  tapers are already doing me a favor by letting me patch, so i'd like to be ready and not count on you guys for the cables!

what do I need?  let me see if I got this right.
--toslink optical to mini plug s/pdif digital optical cable
--an optical to coax coverter
--a digital coax

I guess my real ? is do I need a  OPTICAL INPUT TO COAXIAL OUTPUT, or vice versa?

is there anything else i'm missing.

thanks for your help.

i wouldnt see any reason to ahve a optical > cox converter, and you dont have any optical outs to use it with

i would reccomend the hosa odl-276 for coax > optical conversion, alot of guys here have had great success with these!

and everything else you listed would be correct, maybe get an extra long coax cable to get out of the tapers way just to make things easier for him

edit:

i just answered my own ?

caymanreview:
you pretty much got it covered man. not alot needed, but never assume a taper will have what you need, always come prepared

I have another question.  I just bought the odl 276.  What is it powered by in the field? (what voltage is acceptable?)
