Title: Cheap Inverter

Thought I'd put this here since it is really only pertinent to this section and a limited number of users:

that is really cheap, nice link
Here is a link I found when I was looking for a pure sine wave inverter.
I think it is pretty cheap in itself, there may be cheaper available.

I figure if you are going to run computer/ audio eq off it,
pure sine wave would be the best route to go.

I picked up that model from Compgeeks a couple months ago.   Think I got it for around 10 bucks on a Sunday Sizzle.   It had worked great for charging my JB3's in the car and anything else I've used it for.

so lets say you get one of these suckers for charging batteries at say, festivals, would you need to have the car engine running to avoid completely draining the battery?

I believe and correct me if I am wrong,
You run your vehicle as if you were playing your radio.
(all depends on how good your battery in the vehicle is as well)
Start it up every hour or so and let it run for 15 mins or so.
Don't leave your vehcile unattended for longer then 20 minutes.
You may damage your emissions system due to the hot gasses building up
inside the catalytic converter. By revving it up as was mentioned,
you clear the exhaust of that gas buildup.
Ever smell rotten eggs going down the highway?
That is because grandma does not ever put her foot in it to clear out
the system.
edited: some grammar ...

I just get AC from one of the many, many vendors at festivals.  'Course, I'm a little more limited on juice than most at festivals since I travel on two wheels.

Modified Sine Wave? (=sawtooth)  Auto-battery shut-off is good...

Almost went to a show on my bike last week (Brian), but couldn't figger out how to bungee my stand to my tour-pack (HD Electra-Glide) without risking hitting someone with it.  Ended up in the truck (wife's handicap parking pass works nice for parking at Festi's)...
